Fishing
This 8.5 stone (119 pound) Sturgeon was caught in the shell-fish
nets of the St Ives fishing boat ‘Girl Sharon’ on 1st May 1978.
It was landed by John Harding assisted by the boat’s owners
Sam and Eddy Bassett and crew member Raymond Stevens.
This was only the third Sturgeon to be caught in local waters
since the war and was sold for £70 in Newlyn Fish Market
